Since 2006, Steven Lee Moya has showcased his constantly evolving selection of Afro-Latin, Funk, Soul, R&B, and House music at San Antonio’s most notable events and downtown cocktail bars. Political gatherings, fundraisers, and fashion shows have all been enhanced by Moya’s unique musical selections, and his Other Directions podcast has brought his passion for curating sounds to an international audience.
Moya’s a leading gentleman in a musical movement in San Antonio; he’s an expert at creating new possibilities in DJ culture among the local scene and beyond. A deep love and respect for the past informs and enriches what Moya offers to the complicated present.
His success as an opening act has led him to share the stage with world-renowned artists such as Antibalas, Ana Tijoux, Brownout, Chicha Libre, Federico Aubele, Cold War Kids, Fitz and The Tantrums, José James, Lee Fields & The Expressions and Taylor McFerrin to name a few.
Some career highlights have included the official San Antonio Spurs 2014 Championship team after party, resident DJ for Echale! Latino Music Series presented by Red Bull Panamérika, host of Havana Hi-Fi at Hotel Havana in downtown San Antonio and opening for Brown Sabbath at the famous Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip.
Adrian Quesada: Brownout/Ocote Soul Sounds/Level One Sound
“In a DJ culture infatuated with the past, SLM has deep respect for the history of music and is a purveyor of dusty grooves - but what makes him even more relevant is his untiring support of contemporary artists and his constant search for something new.”
Christopher Galvan: Krtu 91.7fm San Antonio
“Steven’s background as a musician and knowledge of music structure has greatly influenced his style as a DJ. He understands what most DJs do not: selecting/curating quality music comes first and foremost, do that and everything else falls into place.”
Leonard Trujillo: House Nation/ Ksym 90.1fm San Antonio
